Gee-Gees Volleyball:
Gee-Gees Push Toronto To The Limit
Despite
losing to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues 2-3 to finish
the regular season, Ottawa goes into the playoffs on a positive
note. The match was a preview of the quarter final match as Toronto
finished the season in first place in the OUA East Division and
will be hosting Ottawa next Friday night.
Ottawa
and Toronto put on quite a show in anticipation of the match up
next week. Toronto jumped out early in the first set and won it
25-17. However, the Gees were not about to get pushed aside in
their final home game of the season and kept finding a way to
extend the second set until they had a chance to close it out
27-25. The Blues again set a hard hitting tone in the third set
to establish an early lead and run out the set 25-17. Again, Ottawa
refused to go quietly and found a way to win the fourth set 25-23
to force the fifth set. In the fifth, Toronto and Ottawa battled
back and forth with Toronto gaining the win 15-11.
The
match also marked the final home game for fifth year seniors,
Erinka Hoornstra, Lisa Wallace and Andrea Kvasnica. The entire
Ottawa Gee-Gees program would like to thank them for their dedication
and contribution to the university, the community and the sport
of volleyball.
