GGVBALL - STORM BACK TO WIN OUA QUARTER FINAL - WOOHOO!

The Gee-Gees volleyball team’s goal of an OUA title is still alive due to a remarkable come from behind 3-2 win over the York Lions (22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-17, 18-16)!

Ottawa simply refused to lose no matter what the scoreboard said. Despite being down two sets to none, the Gees simply refused to quit. The team dug in and fought back to take the next two sets and force the fifth and deciding set and in doing so reclaimed the energy of their home gym.

The fifth set was a back and forth test of determination and although being down 10-13, Ottawa continued fighting and gutted out an incredible 18-16 victory. The Gees are now off to the Final Four Championship tournament next weekend.

“The kids just never quit. I am so proud of this team and how hard they fight. Being down 2-0 and fighting back ... this is just an unbelievable feeling. All week long we talked about about playing with passion and pride. I think they found what that means and how hard you have to work to beat a team like York. This was a great team win and now we have a week to get ready for the semi-finals against Windsor” Head Coach, Lionel Woods, said after the victory.

The OUA Final Four weekend will either be at the University of Toronto or here at Montpetit Hall depending on the outcome of tomorrow’s quarter-final match between Toronto and Lakehead.
