Ottawa
Finishes First Half Of The Season
With 3-0 Win Over Ryerson
The
Gee-Gees women’s volleyball team closed out the first half
of their season with a 3-0 win over East Division opponents Ryerson
Rams (25-20, 25-17, 25-18). The win was also the sixth straight
at home for Ottawa and now puts their OUA league record at 8-2.
The Gees are now four points clear of York for 2nd place in the
OUA East Division and four points behind first place Toronto with
one game in hand.
“This
match was a tough test for us to finish the first half of the
season. The team worked hard but the rhythm just didn’t
seem to be there. However, our 5th year captain, Manon Ouellette,
really stepped up and stabilized the floor for us. With Manon’s
leadership and our tough serving we managed to control the match.
I think we are all looking forward to a bit of a break to get
recharged for the second half push.” Head Coach Lionel Woods
commented after the match.
The
Gees will host the 25th annual, Quality Hotel Invitational Tournament,
January 6 - 8, 2006. The tournament features lasts season’s
CIS Champions, Sherbrooke University, top-ten ranked McGill University
(#5), as well as McMaster University, Wilfred Laurier University,
University of New Brunswick, University of Windsor and St. Mary’s
University.
