Gee-Gees Finish Season Perfect At Home With 3-2 Win Over Toronto

The Gee-Gees volleyball team finished the season a perfect 11-0 at home with a thrilling five set victory, over East Division leading University of Toronto Varsity Blues (22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-21, 15-9). The win secures second place in the OUA East Division for the Gee-Gees and rewards the team with a date at home for the first round of the OUA playoffs! Ottawa will host the York Lions next Friday night, February 17 at 7:00pm at Monpetit Hall.

“Wow! What a great match! I think a match like tonight really showcases how good our league really is and how hard these athletes train and compete. I am so proud of what our team has accomplished this season. Every time we had a chance to take a set back, the players upped the stakes and demanded more from themselves.” Head Coach Lionel Woods said after the win

Coach Woods also added, “People need to know, our strength trainer, Lenny (Sabourin), is the reason why we are so tough in these five set matches. He works so hard with every single one of these players to push them physically so that in a tough five set match like tonight, the players are still flying. I don’t know where we would be without his influence”

The Gees will host the OUA Quarter Final against York next Friday night, February 17, 7:00 pm, at Monpetit Hall.
