Gee-Gees stay undefeated at home with hard fought 3-2 win over York

The Gee-Gees Volleyball team stays undefeated at home with a thrilling five set victory over the York University Lions (25-22, 21-25, 25-23, 14-25, 15-10). The win was the 7th straight league win at home and moves the Gees six points ahead of York for second place and within two of 1st place Toronto.

“At times I think both teams were outstanding tonight and at other times we were both a little scrambly - but I think that’s volleyball. We are two evenly matched teams and I think we are both looking very good with a month to go before playoffs.” Coach Woods had to say after the hard fought two hour match.

Coach Woods also added, “This was a full team effort tonight, everyone’s strengths were needed. Starters and subs all added to the floor, but it must be mentioned that the stability of our 5th year captain and libero, Manon Ouellette was key in the win.”

The Gees head to Windsor and London next weekend for two more tough league matches against the Windsor Lancers and the #1 ranked, Western Mustangs.

Ottawa’s next home game is Wednesday, February 1st against the Queen’s Golden Gaels at 7:00 pm.
